Pacific Northwest Big Tree Triple Set

$65.00

Our best value Pacific Northwest poster deal! You’ll receive our Leaning Veteran (Douglas Fir 100cm x 34.5cm), Coastal Giant (Sitka Spruce 100cm x 29cm) and our Volcanic Pioneer (Noble Fir 100cm x 25cm) posters shipped to you in one tube.

The Volcanic Pioneer embodies that ultimate feeling of power in the American Landscape. Located on the side of Mt. St. Helens in Washington state the location of this tree reflects not one but two powers of nature. The stunning example of a Noble Fir stands 80 metres tall while its understory is akin to an open parkland of towering trunks.

We fell in love with the Coastal Giant the very second we saw it from across the ravine. Standing 80m tall and absolutely draped in epiphytic life it was the hardest of missions and required an extended stay to capture this very unique tree. Located just a mile from the wild Pacific Coast in Oregon it would alternate between sharp contrasty daylight and drenching rain. We were mentally and physically beaten by the conditions and this is the only tree that we considered giving up on. We didn’t.

The Leaning Veteran is the tree that really started the long journey to photograph some of the American giants. Deep in the Siuslaw Mountains, it sits on a perfect aspect for plenty of rain and optimal sunlight. With easy access, it was a pleasure to camp with and even more of a pleasure to climb and photograph. Its features were dramatic with a snapped crown with a hollow housing a vole nest and a branch now growing vertically to continue the growth upwards. A classic Doug Fir reiteration, a new stem that begins growing from a lateral branch, is starting to dominate the lower half of the tree.

Materials

These posters are our most affordable option. Printed using a quality CMYK 4 colour process on 200gsm satin paper. If you are considering investing in a frame for these posters, we recommend spending that bit more on a Canson Platine cotton fibre print. This material better suits the investment in a frame.

“The beauty of your Tree Portraits is that the giants will continue to grow and it feels like my print will grow with it. Thank you so much, I love it.”
